Each of these utensils is built with a 1 1/2" wide grip handle that is intended to help individuals living with Parkinson's, arthritis, hand tremors, or any other cause of poor grip strength. By having a wide grip this utensil requires less gripping power than traditional flatware, and since the handle has a plastic coating it is also easier for patients to maintain their grip when tremors or spasms do occur. It is non-weighted but heavier than traditional silverware for extra stability during use. The end of the handle even has a hanging hole for efficient storage and drying when it is not in use!
