The key functionality is a robotic arm that selects virtually any properly sized food from one of four compartments and delivers it to one of several thousand potential locations where the diner can eat from the spoon.

This feeder is designed to provide caregivers with a peace of mind that their patient or loved one is gaining independence, time back to their day to care for other patients or family members, and reduces stress caused by time pressure.
Obi is easy to control after initial training. This feeder aid is controlled by switches and can be operated by any part of the body that is able to activate the switch. This feature allows the feeder to become an extension of the diner, and makes eating more independent for the user.
